No, Your Ductless System Isn’t Immune to Repairs

ductless-blowerIf you own a ductless system, you know how truly great they are — they’re super efficient, highly effective, and can provide year-round comfort with just the flip of a switch! Who wouldn’t want one of these systems, right?

Well, just because your ductless system is awesome in every way, doesn’t mean that it is immune to repairs. In fact, ductless systems come with their own set of unique repair needs, and below, we have listed a few of them for you. Keep reading to find out more. And remember, it is important to schedule your ductless repairs with an HVAC contractor in Colorado Springs if you notice any signs of trouble.

Unique Ductless Repairs

There are a number or repairs that your ductless may need over the years:

Water Leaks Behind the Air Handler

Each of the wall-mounted air handlers in your home as a series of connections routed through a hole behind them. These connections include a power line, a refrigerant line, and a condensate line. The condensate line is responsible for removing water from the cooling process so that it doesn’t enter your home. However, these lines may leak, and when they do, water will begin to collect between the back of the air handler and the wall.

If this issue goes unnoticed for a lengthy period of time, your wall materials may weaken, causing the air handler to rip away from the wall and fall to the floor. Not only will you have to deal with the cost of replacing the air handler, but you will also have to pay to repair your damaged wall. Therefore, if you notice any signs of water around the air handler, it’s important to call for repairs!

Broken Air Handlers

It is quite possible that one of the air handlers in your home will malfunction, which can be due to a number of issues. Fortunately, though, when this happens, it will not affect your comfort too much! You see, when one of the air handlers in your home stops working, either due to a mechanical issue or some sort of electrical failure, the remaining air handlers will continue to work just fine — just another benefit of a ductless system!

If one of your air handlers does break, be sure to call in a professional who can repair the faulty air handler for you.

Refrigerant Leaks

Okay sure, refrigerant leaks can happen to any air conditioning system, however, ductless systems are a little more vulnerable simply because they’ve got more refrigerant lines running through them. A refrigerant leak can lead to all sorts of other issues, including reduced cooling and heating output and even a full-system breakdown if left ignored. Therefore, if you notice any signs of a refrigerant leak, like low cooling output, liquid leaking from the system, or a strange hissing sound, it is time to call in a professional for repairs.
